Here are three websites that will give you all the information you need to better understand natural disasters.

#1 National Geographic: http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/natural-disasters/

This is by far our favorite website on natural disasters. There are a plenty of articles explaining the different phenomenons, tips, pictures and Q&A. The website is really worth visiting !

We particularly appreciated the article 5 Tips for Staying Safe in Avalanche Country.

#2 Relief Web: http://reliefweb.int/

Relief Web says they are the leading source for reliable and timely humanitarian information on global crises and disasters since 1996. On their website you will find headlines, information on crises and disasters (situation reports, analysis, maps, etc.) and every country situation.

Take some time to visit the Disasters section to find out the map with the ongoing disasters around the world.

#3 BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/earth/natural_disasters

The BBC website gives short descriptions of the different types of natural disasters but most of the time you will find related articles. An additional positive point are the images that are breathtaking !
